After the Vasectomy Reversal Procedure
Vasectomy Reversal at the ICVR is literally a day's work. We designed our Center to be as convenient and comfortable as possible. Your reversal is performed in our own accredited outpatient facility so you will check-in and check-out the same day.
Your vasectomy reversal procedure is performed in a highly advanced surgery suite equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, monitors and supplies. Your comfort and health are our first priority at ICVR and we are dedicated to leading-edge microsurgery in a caring, supportive environment. Our vast experience with thousands of patients over 20 years has helped us to develop care before and after care guidelines for our patients that ensure the most successful and the fastest vasectomy reversal recovery.
Upon completion of your vasectomy reversal procedure, you are taken to an adjacent recovery room where you can relax comfortably in a deep leather recliner while the sedatives wear off. Here, one of our highly experienced nurses will monitor your post-operative recovery and be sure that you have everything you need until you are ready to leave the Center. Prior to being picked up by our town car service to return to your hotel or leaving to go home, Drs. Marks or Burrows goes over your customized care packet that outlines your care and any instructions and restrictions step-by-step. We provide as an added bonus digital photographs taken of your sperm seen in the lab and as well as key points of the reversal on each side. This allows you to better understand exactly what we saw and what was done.
Vasectomy reversal recovery requires 3 days of "house arrest" after surgery, which you can choose to do here in a hotel, at home, in a car or returning on a plane. You are sent home with samples of all the medications you need initially, to include anti-inflammatory medications. For the remainder of the 2-3 weeks post-surgery, patients are followed-up with and given detailed care instructions. We encourage you to contact us with any concerns you might have post-surgery. Though we have had experience with many thousands of patients before you, we realize that each person is unique and you may have questions we have not addressed. We provide 24-hour access to our staff to be sure all questions are answered and you receive you the best care available.
On average, depending on many factors, it takes about 4 to 6 months for most couples to achieve pregnancy after the vasectomy reversal. In the past, we have some patients achieve pregnancy in as little as one month after the reversed vasectomy!
The surgeons and the staff at ICVR are committed to supporting an easy, uneventful vasectomy reversal recovery for each of their patients. You won't have to wait for too long before you become a Dad again!
