We are proud to have as part of ICVR an affiliated comprehensive andrology lab and cryobank. Physically adjacent to the operating suite, the lab allows for complete evaluation of the vasal fluid during your vasectomy reversal. Completely credentialed and certified by the US federal government, we offer the highest level of care and all banking services. Amy Perkins, who has her Masters degree in reproductive physiology, runs the lab. Sperm banking can be performed at the time of the reversal or at a later date. The lab also offers preps for intrauterine insemination for those patients that live in Southern Arizona. Having an affiliated lab on site is an essential part of our commitment to total services, and what sets us above so many others.
Having this andrology care during your vasectomy reversal means that Amy can take the time to show your wife or partner the sperm on the microscope as we are seeing them in the surgical suite. Amy will teach important information for understanding about sperm analysis so that future semen analysis results are better understood. Though not necessary, this extra service is one more reason that so many choose ICVR for their vasectomy reversal.
Trying to conceive can be a stressful, troubling, and often confusing issue for many couples. We take the "mystery" out of fertility. The AALC offers complete, compassionate, and focused counseling to educate and inform couples on all their test results and outline all the possible options for them to have a child. Unlike some of the "large labs" that do many, many different kinds of testing, the AALC is strictly an andrology (male fertility) laboratory. This complete focus allows us to provide the best possible care for patients and couples that need the best fertility testing possible.
After your
vasectomy reversal
The Andrology Laboratory & Cryobank can also provide confidential, state-of-the-art male fertility testing in a professional atmosphere dedicated to patient education. Amy can provide not only top-notch testing but in addition reviews every semen analysis report that comes into ICVR for interpretation and recommendations. Quite often Amy will call to go over the results and explain what they really mean and answer your questions about your fertility.
To give the greatest possible coverage, care and flexibility for our patients and physicians, all procedures and testing are available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week! Semen analysis testing
Our laboratory offers complete Semen Analysis testing with same day results. All specimens are examined within 20 minutes of delivery to our laboratory to ensure the highest level of accuracy. Our laboratory also offers a complete line of Semen Washes or Semen Processing for intrauterine insemination (IUI). Each wash is "custom tailored" to each patient's individual needs. Patients can drop off a specimen at the laboratory for a wash and take it to their physician for an IUI all in one hour or less, along with a complete Semen Analysis report – with results both before and after the wash.
Sperm banking
After your reversal, some couples wish to bank additional sperm. AALC offers the highest quality sperm banking (freezing) on site 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. This provides you a flexible time based on your needs and schedule.
Other testing.
A semen analysis is a great start to checking on a man's fertility and ability to father a child, but sometimes there are other factors that can impair fertility. The AALC offers a full line of advanced semen function testing to check for such factors including a Strict Morphology test that examines the shape and features of the sperm in critical detail. Our Antibody Sperm Assay can detect antibodies that can cause sperm to clump together, impairing fertility. The White Blood Cell count assay can determine if too many of these cells are present in the semen, which can cause an increase in certain chemical that harm sperm, or may be a sign of infection. Our Pellet Count test can detect if even a few sperm are present in the semen, and the Fructose Assay can check for blockage which may be preventing the sperm from being in the semen.
We are on call and here for you for full-time. We look forward to hearing from you, whatever your fertility issues or questions might be.
